Michelle Friedman-Yakoobian Ph.D.

Michelle Friedman-Yakoobian, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School and Principal Investigator of the Response to Risk for Psychosis Research Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She co-founded the CEDAR Clinic, the first specialty program in Massachusetts for youth at clinical high risk for psychosis. Dr. Friedman-Yakoobian’s work focuses on developing and implementing evidence-based interventions for individuals experiencing early psychosis and those at clinical high risk, with a particular emphasis on improving functioning and supporting families. She has led multiple NIH-funded studies and is actively involved in statewide and national initiatives to expand access to high-quality, coordinated specialty care. Clinically, she has extensive experience in CBT for psychosis (CBTp), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family-focused interventions, and coaching models to support school and work functioning. She regularly provides training and consultation to clinicians and teams seeking to enhance care for complex presentations, particularly when psychosis, family dynamics, and engagement challenges intersect.
